Ulanzi AS-D30 30cm Mini Bowens Mount Octagonal Softbox
I recently integrated the Ulanzi AS-D30 into my desk-based video setup to see if its small footprint could actually deliver studio-grade light. This 30cm octagonal softbox is designed specifically for lower-wattage COB lights, and I tested it extensively during long-form content recordings.
Performance & Build Quality
The build quality is surprisingly robust, featuring high-quality reflective fabric that feels durable enough for frequent transport. The internal and external double diffuser system does an excellent job of softening the harsh output typical of small LED sources, resulting in very natural skin tones.
Day-to-Day Experience
The quick-pack design is the standout feature here, allowing me to collapse and store the light modifier in seconds, which is a massive relief when clearing space on my desk. The Mini Bowens Mount is incredibly intuitive, making swaps between different lighting angles seamless without needing extra tools or adapters.
This is the perfect tool for solo content creators and mobile videographers who need professional light shaping without the bulk of traditional studio equipment.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the Ulanzi AS-D30 earns a solid 4.86 rating for its perfect balance of portability and performance. For $69.00, it is an essential addition for anyone looking to refine their lighting game without breaking the bank.
